Greenwich Meantime Brewery Visit

31st May 2014

On Saturday 31st May, members of the 101 Association, BD REA Branch and the Officers Club attended a tour of the Meantime Brewery Greenwich. This was a return visit to the Meantime, members had such an enjoyable day last year we thought we would repeat the experience.

We RV'd at the brewery for 12.00 and managed to squeeze in a beer at the brewery bar before the tour started. Our speaker for the pre-tour talk was Big Al, as last year his talk was hilarious at points it even touched on the subject of beer and brewing. Big Al's latest hair fashion statement was not on his head, but his chest hair that his barber had shaved in to the shape of a heart so he could impress his better half.

During the talk we were encouraged!! not that we needed encouragement to try all the Meantime beers available on tap in the bar. Even those amongst us that were lager drinkers and not fans of real ale really enjoyed the beers being offered to us for tasting.

After the talk we were given time for our stomach muscles to recover from all the laughter during Big Al's talk, we were then guided around the brewery and introduced to the brewing methods used by Meantime.

Before leaving the brewery a presentation of Regimental and Association plaques to Big Al and the brewery took place. Philip Webb Chairman of the 101 Association presented a 101 Regiment plaque and Peter Markham Secretary of the REA BD Branch presented a Association plaque, see attached photo (sorry Pete only photo I had).
